Thornbury Wayfinders are NOT putting on a walking festival next next week, BUT there is a lot going on in the town.
There is the usual Walking Well walk on Tuesday 18th FEB at 10 am from outside the Multiple Sclerosis Charity Shop in the St Mary Centre. We hope to spice things up a bit by making our way up to the parish boundary as practice for a future Beating the Bounds event.
There is nothing on the Wednesday yet, but it looks like a good slot for a Walking Hash in the future. If you don’t know about the Hash House Harriers – the Drinking Club with a Running Problem, they are meeting at the Anchor at Oldbury on Severn on Monday 17th at 7 pm. I hear that quite a few of them have got over their problem and now walk instead. They are meeting in Thornbury on Monday 24th – not sure where yet!
On Thursday 20th the Thornbury U3A Walking group are catching a bus to Falfield to walk back along the Coffin Path to St Marys. If you want to join this you need to get there in time to catch the 9.45 bus from outside Aldi.
On the evening of the same day, Thornbury Running Club have a brisk walking group, starting at 7pm from the Leisure Centre.
On Friday 21st Severnside Ramblers are putting on a Thornbury Heritage Walk from the pedestrian lights opposite Aldi at 10.15 am.
On Saturday 22nd, Southwold Ramblers are exploring Sustainable Thornbury’s Biodiversity Ring, starting at the car park at Thornbury Leisure Centre at 10.15 am.
Meanwhile, Representatives of Thornbury Wayfinders will be at JIGSAW in the St Mary Centre waiting to distribute walking challenges and answer questions.
On Sunday 23rd, Sandra of the Swan will be leading the sponsored walk in aid of Thornbury Radio that attracted us to this week in the first place. Sponsor forms available at the Swan. Walk will be on Monday Playing Fields.
At 9 am Thornbury Ramblers will be laying down a marker for a future Beating of the Bounds by setting off from the Rock Street car park to explore some interesting points on the northern boundary of the Civil Parish of Thornbury.
