We are developing a number of short routes within the township of Thornbury. The original walking route was the Heritage Walk, which was developed by our partner the Thornbury and District Heritage Trust at the Thornbury and District Museum. This route begins in Silver Street next to the Town Hall. It is nearly all accessible for wheel chairs and explores the history of the ancient borough. The next route, signed with spare waymarks from the Forest of Avon Community Forest Path, is the Thornbury Streams Circuit, a fully accessible path based on the Streamside Walks developed by the late Allan Burberry and others. In development is the Biodiversity Ring devised by members of Sustainable Thornbury, which explores the green areas on the periphery of new housing developments. In addition, there are four shorter routes that explore connections between the The Thornbury Streams Circuit and the Biodiversity Ring. Not to be forgotten, the Thornbury Walker website, which was created during lockdown, shows us how to break down barriers between town and the countryside.
This is one of the shorter routes linking the Biodiversity Ring and the Thornbury Streams Circuit.
